The Episcopal Church, established shortly after the American Revolution, has its roots in the Anglican Church, known as the Church of England.
Episcopalians are followers of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and both our worship and our mission are in Christ’s name. In Jesus, we find that the nature of God is love, and through baptism, we share in his victory over sin and death.
All are welcome to worship with us and to find a spiritual home at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
There is no dress code, but we encourage worshipers to honor God and respect their fellow worshipers in their words and comportment.
Holy Communion may be received by all baptized Christians, not only members of the Episcopal Church.
Come to the rail at the front of the church and kneel or stand. You may eat the bread when it is given to you and sip from the cup, or you may hold the bread and dip it in the communion wine.
You will find information about our Sunday service of Eucharist (which means “thanksgiving”) in the Sunday bulletin and in the Book of Common Prayer, found in the pews.
The Sunday bulletin notes, and the priest often says, when worshipers should stand or kneel/sit. Those who are unable to stand or kneel are welcome to sit comfortably.
Both men and women, including those who are married, are eligible for ordination as deacons, priests and bishops in the Episcopal Church.
The structure of Rite 1 and Rite 2 liturgies are essentially the same, the traditional language rites are known as Rite 1, and the contemporary language rites are known as Rite 2.
St. Paul’s has a continual prayer ministry. To add a name or personal concern to these prayers, please call the church office at 507-452-5355.
